We spend so much of our lives with goals, striving towards something.. how often do we allow ourselves to slow down?
This is where meditation can help - in fact, it is said within meditation teachings that is we can't accept ourselves as we are in this moment, we will never truly feel fulfilled or manage to find contentment.
Make no mistake, being present in our bodies is difficult! Why? We think of our bodies as a place where physical pain lives but it is also the home to our emotional pain and the thing is - difficult emotions are difficult to be present for because of the physical sensations they evoke. This often worsens due to the reaction of repressing these feelings because they are uncomfortable!
This physical and/or emotional pain is asking for our attention so that it can process and heal. When we are able to hold space for it to do so, it is able to move through us. When we resist, it simply persists.
Meditation takes patience/compassion for yourself and the journey/experience that will be unique to you. Often, we don't see the results of our work until we are in the right place to step back and realize how far we've come since that first step.
So take the first step with me during this 45 minute interactive workshop meant to introduce a type of meditation that is not only effective in helping you become present within your body but is also a great tool for when you feel you simply cannot sit still.
The focus will be on slow, purposeful movement while utilizing conscious breathing and a practice of being gentle with whatever emotions may arise throughout.
